Who We Are
Fund for Osteopathic Research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (F.O.R.M.E.) is a UK-registered charity dedicated to funding research into the prevention and treatment of ME/CFS and Long COVID using osteopathic techniques.
Formed in 1995, F.O.R.M.E. raises funds for research into the use of osteopathic techniques in the prevention and treatment of ME/CFS and now, Long COVID.
Our volunteer Trustees are all personally connected to ME/CFS or Long Covid, either as sufferers, family members, or health practitioners – bringing passion, experience, and insight to the management of the charity.
Why We Exist
Our vision is to make osteopathic treatment for ME/CFS and Long COVID widely accessible, ensuring that everyone who could benefit from these techniques has the opportunity to do so. With no government funding available for this type of research, we have relied on the generosity of our supporters over the years to help fund research initiatives, which aim to investigate and demonstrate the effectiveness of osteopathic techniques in supporting people with ME/CFS and Long COVID
ME/CFS and Long COVID can affect people of any age, gender or background. For many sufferers, daily life is drastically impacted. Young people may experience severe disruptions to education, while adults often find it impossible to maintain employment. Social and family life can become strained, and in severe cases, sufferers may be housebound or confined to bed for months or even years. Symptoms vary and may not all be present at the same time, but the overall effect on quality of life is profound.
By funding research studies and supporting educational initiatives, we aim to make a tangible difference for those living with these conditions.
